The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has the responsibility of conducting research on work-related injuries. The agency also makes recommendations for improvements of working conditions. NIOSH is part of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Both departments are part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It boasts a workforce of 1,200 people with backgrounds that represent a wide-range of disciplines.

The Mission of NIOSH

One of the primary missions of NIOSH is to track work-environment hazards. It also tracks exposures to harmful elements, and how-and-where illnesses/ injuries occur, so as to prevent future worker harm. The agency is highly involved in research programs and is always sharing its knowledge with the world. It also focuses its attention on high-risk industrial sectors, and attempts to find solutions for problems that are extremely difficult to solve. Some of the agency’s most relevant work is transferring their research findings into procedure, and helpingindustries to improve safety.

Our Commitment to Safety

At Polo Custom Products, we stay abreast of NIOSH findings that may be relevant to our customers’ markets, since it may impact what we design and manufacture for customers on a global scale. The work we do for the medical, government and defense, fire and safety, and industrial commerce is quite relevant to their studies. The custom sewn products, such as harness and pad assemblies, thermoformed products, such as EVA cases, and rf sealed products, such as emergency escape hoods or inflatable air bladders, that we custom-manufacturer for our customers often fall within the NIOSH guidelines for safety.

From Research into Practice

NIOSH’s focus is to turn research into practice. They partner with private entities to translate their information into preventive practices. They also focus on creating a healthy workplace environment.

At Polo Custom Products, we do everything possible to understand our customers’ requirements and their product applications for use so we can make the best recommendations for design and manufacturing. This helps to ensure their compliance with NIOSH and other relevant industry directives, while also helping them to make life better for others.
