LOUISVILLE, Miss. – (WTVA) Exciting times at Polo Custom Products in Louisville. The Topeka-Kansas based company is expanding its Winston County factory investing 150-thousand dollars creating 30 new jobs. Karla Clem, President and CEO says “We have received news in recent days of even more contracts that we’re winning so we’re excited about that. We’re excited about the jobs it’s going to bring.”
Polo Custom Products shared its excitement with state and local leaders Monday. The custom manufacturing company makes a lot of products including a new one for our American troops. Clem says “A chemical patient wrap for the warfighter. It’s used to protect them from chemical warfare.”
News of thirty jobs also gives the city of Louisville an economic shot in the arm. The city of 7,000 still has the scars and evidence of the devastating tornado that blew through the city two years ago. Will Hill, Mayor of Louisville says, “Everyone is starving for economic growth and yet we continue to persevere not only in our recovery effort but Polo who’s been here for so long are confidence in our workforce and our community. Anytime there is an increase in job count whether it’s one, five or thirty or 300 they all impact households.”
Topeka, Kansas, July 21, 2016: Polo Custom Products is pleased to announce they have once again expanded their manufacturing capabilities to include impulse sealing.
To accommodate this new service, Polo Custom Products purchased and installed a new four-station press machine at their Monticello, IA, plant. This new machine will give them the capacity to handle a wider range of product applications and larger volume orders in response to customer demand. Karla Clem, President and CEO of Polo Custom Products, states, “This additional impulse sealing equipment is another example of Polo’s investment in continuous improvement and demonstrates our commitment to be our customers’ total source for innovative design and global manufacturing. In all the markets we serve, impulse sealing will prove beneficial to helping our customers develop and consistently deliver a superior product in less time.”
The use of impulse sealing has become increasingly more popular because it is capable of bonding a larger number of thermoplastic film and laminate types. Impulse sealing also allows for tighter process validation and quality controls, which is crucial for product quality planning and manufacturing, particularly in sensitive fields, such as medical and fire and safety. Finally, impulse sealing is a faster process, putting products into the hands of customers more quickly. All of these benefits made impulse sealing capabilities a necessary addition to RF sealing, ultrasonic sealing, and heat sealing capabilities already provided by Polo Custom Products.

Topeka, KS, August 2010. Polo Custom Products announces the acquisition of Foarm Following Function, Inc. in Santa Barbara, California.
Foarm, like Polo, specializes in custom thermoforming using fabrics, foam, and flexible or rigid plastic materials. Foarm filed the original patent for the thermoforming process. Their vast experience and knowledge in tooling design and thermoformed product development are advantageous to Polo as well as their domestic manufacturing operations.
As a result of the merger, Polo adds the following competitive advantages for thermoformed products:
Adding these advantages to Polo’s already extensive capabilities of in-house design and engineering, primary and secondary manufacturing process expertise, multiple U.S. manufacturing locations, global raw materials sourcing, market intelligence, and Asian manufacturing partnerships, exemplifies Polo’s commitment to be a TOTAL Source manufacturer.
Polo Custom Products is excited to announce that our Louisville, MS operation has expanded and relocated to a new building. On September 2, 2008, we began manufacturing operations in our new facility. We have increased our manufacturing operations by over 60%! Even in the current economy, we are poised for double digit sales growth this year.
At a little over 105,000 square feet, our new facility is nearly three times larger than our prior MS location and it is able to accommodate new equipment and future expansion. The new building will house sewing and peripheral operation production lines and warehousing for imported products. One advantage of the much larger space is having enough room for our brand new Lectra computerized material cutting and transfer system. Polo now has two Lectra cutting machines. Our Monticello, IA plant has used the Lectra system for several years now. We’ve found it to be a very valuable tool. We are able to cut material faster, more accurately, and with less waste than ever before.
